Massage Therapy Awareness Week- Arthritis Benefits
Massage offers something special for everyone. Skilled, nurturing touch of a massage therapist can make a big difference in someone’s life. For Massage Therapy Awareness Week, we are telling the stories of a few of our clients- maybe one of them will make you think of someone you know that could benefit from massage!
Robert S is “Salt of the Sea”. He lives at the ocean, and loves to sail. When he’s not sailing, he’s traveling to far-off lands, seeking distant places that few have been to. He likes to go to places “that haven’t been spoiled by tourism yet”. Despite his broad shoulders and strong build, he has Osteoarthritis (the common degeneration of joints associated with age), and Osteopenia, which is the beginning stage of Osteoporosis. His right hip and knee have both been replaced due to the joint deterioration. Yet he won’t let that hold him back. To keep strong and to keep the arthritis at bay, he works out a few times a week at the gym, and with his new bionic leg and regular massage, likes to go for long, brisk walks. He finds that massage can help reduce the stress on the joints, and the aching muscles around them. Massage isn’t a cure for arthritis, but it certainly makes his life easier!
